New Home banner

Hi everyone, something a bit different today. Friends of ours have just moved house and I made them this card: 

I used a white card blank and punched the flags using the Petite Pennant Builder punch and Big Top Birthday Designer Papers. This paper is great as it uses really clear bright colours which is also great for children's birthday cards or scrapbook pages. I then stamped the 'stitched' flags using the Pennant Parade stamp set and the Just Perfect Alphabet stamp set. They were also punched using the Petite Pennant Builder punch. Here are some close ups:

 

I deliberately kept this card simple and resisted the urge to add anything else. Till next time. x

Up, Up and Away!

This is the last card we made in the cupcake card class. There are lots of versions of this card on the internet and this is my version of it:

We used Bashful Blue for the base card and stamped the 'basket' in Soft Suede ink using the Create A Cupckae stamp set, then punched it using the Cupcake Builder punch. The balloon was punched from Pumpkin Pie card which had been embossed with the Stripes embossing folder. We used the 1 3/4" Circle punch and the large Oval punch to give it the 3D effect. The clouds were punched from Whisper White using the Cupcake Builder punch again. The hills were cut from different shades of green designer paper. Here's the usual close up:

Cupcake Bakery

Hi everyone, here's the second card we made using the Create A Cupcake stamp set. This time it's a cupcake bakery - at least that's what I call it. Here you go:

I didn't want to go for surgary colours so went for these colours instead. Actually they are still quite sugary. I used Pink Pirouette for the base card and Rich Razzleberry and Island Indigo for the contrast colours. The cupcakes were stamped in a variety of colours and punched using the Cupcake Builder punch. the canopy was created using the Word Window punch. Here's a close up of the cupcakes:



And the next photo shows a better view of the 3D effect of this card. The scalloped edge on the 'shelf' was created by punching the edge with the Scallop Edge Border punch.

Popcorn anyone?

Although you've seen the preview I haven't shared the cards we made in our last card class yet, so here's the popcorn card. This is my favourite purely because I think it's such a clever use of punches. I would never have thought of this but saw it on Jules Japes and have pretty much just copied it, except for the colours:

We used Real Red as the base card and cut a strip of card from Basic Black, and punched squares of Whisper White, using the 1 1/4" square punch. The popcorn containers were stamped in Real Red ink and punched using the Cupcake Builder punch. The popcorn was punched using the flower shape from the Itty Bitty punch pack. We punched them out of Very Vanilla and inked the edges using Daffodil Delight and the Sponge Daubers. Here's a close up:



The 'Happy Birthday' sentiment stamp is part of the Create A Cupcake stamp set. It was stamped and punched using the Word Window punch, with the Modern Label punched in Basic Black behind it. Easter Chicks

Hi everyone, I didn't post any Easter projects this year, mainly because I didn't make any... except for these cute little chicks. I intended to use these at an Easter fair but in the end we couldn't do the fair so I made them for colleagues at work instead. This one looks a bit crazy:  

They were made using the scalloped circle punch and daffodil delight card stock. The feet were punched in pumpkin pie, using the owl punch. Googly eyes and a pumpkin pie beak finished him off. I made up some cello bags with easter eggs and marshmallow bunnies and attached an easter chick to each one:

 These are really easy to make, so why not have a go. x 

My Friend class preview

Good afternoon everyone. Here are the sneak previews of the My Friend class, as promised. This class will be held on Wednesday 11th April, 7.00-9.30pm. We will be making 3 cards, using a variety of techniques. This card uses heat embossing and Stamp 'n Stick - it's hard to see in this photo but hopefully you can just make out the glittered tear drop shapes at the top of the photo:
