Topsy-Turvy Celebration - From Disaster to Perfection

Good morning everyone, I thought I would give you a rest from Sale-A-Bration cards today and show you something different. It was my step-son's 16th birthday recently and I wanted to use one of my new stamp sets, Topsy-Turvy Celebration. This is what I made for him:

Do you ever have one of those days when everything goes wrong? Well that is what it was like making this card. First of all I spent ages stacking my cakes by masking them and adding the number candles. I then moved on to the greeting and didn't watch where I put my 'inked' piece of plastic that I use with my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig and this was the result:

What a mess. I tried doing it again but that didn't go too well either so in the end I decided to cut the cakes out. I  mounted them on some 3D pads on the inside of a Midnight Muse card. I die cut a backgrounf frame of Gumball Green, using the Framelits dies:

Next I stamped the greeting. I was really pleased at how well I managed to get the numbers from the Memorable Moments set to line up and then I stamped 'Son' from the For My Family stamp set. All it needed was 'birthday'. Look what happened - aaargh:

I had to do it all again:

I used one of the Framelits to cut out an aperature from the front of the card and stamped 'Celebrate' on the inside which I embossed with white embossing powder.

I was actually very pleased with the end result, and so was he, but it took far longer than it should have. x

A pocket full of cards - SAB 2013

Today I have the last of the projects we made at Victoria's training event. This project was designed by her friend Nicola Parr. We made 4 small cards which fitted, with their envelopes, into a small card holder:

We used a variety of stamp sets, some of which are FREE as part of Sale-A-Bration. Here's the butterfly from Blooming Marvellous, which is FREE with a £45 order.

This card uses the 'Thanks!' from Vintage Verses which is one of the FREE sets, and the butterfly from Blooming Marvellous:

This card uses the new Sizzlet die - Pinwheel:

And this one uses 2 pinwheels:

Here's a closer look at the little wallet. This was very easy to do and uses one of the Finishing Touches Edgelits for the decorative edge.

The greeting which is a bit difficult to see says 'Just Because' and is from the FREE Vintage Verses set. As with all the other sets this is FREE with a £45 order. This is what the set looks like:

I'll be back soon with more. x

Blooming Marvellous re-inker technique, SAB 2013

Hello again everyone, as promised these are some of the other cards we made at Victoria's training day, using the FREE Blooming Marvellous stamp set. The top 3 cards use the bird stamp and the bottom 3 cards use the butterfly stamp:

These cards were made using the re-inker technique. I have seen this on the internet but had never done it, until team training. This was so easy to do - you put a couple of baby wipes in the bottom of an airtight container and spinkle some drops of different coloured re-inkers on it, covering the baby wipes. You then use this as your ink pad. I used Lucky Limeade, Melon Mambo and Marina Mist. Here are some close ups:

Can you see the beautiful colour variations?

I loved doing this and needless to say I have now bought a variety of re-inkers and we'll do a class on this soon. If you would like to get this lovely set, all you need to do is place an order for £45, the set will then be yours for FREE.

I'll be back soon with one of the other
 Sale-A-Bration sets. x

Happy Valentine's Day

Hi everyone, this is the card we made to match the Valentine's box, which I showed you last time:

This again uses You are Loved and That's the Ticket stamp sets, with the Heart punch and the Ticket punch but this time I have used different designer papers. We used Pool Party from the Designer paper stack and First Edition DSP. I used marker pens to colour the heart stamp with Real Red and Pool Party before punching out the heart. The die-cut heart is from the More Amore DSP. Here are some close ups:

The lovely edge along the bottom of the card is one of the Finishing Touches Edgelits, which is quickly becoming a favourite. I hope you like these projects. Let me know if you want to join us for any future classes. x

Valentine gift box

Hi everyone, today I'm sharing the Valentine's gift box we made in class, last week. It's hard to show you all of it in one photo but here is one view:

The box was made using Real Red cardstock and More Amore DSP. These designer papers come with 2 sheets of die cut hearts, so we cut some of them out and used them for the box and the matching card which I will show you in a few days. Here's a better view of the top:

We used 2 stamp sets on this project- You are loved was stamped in Real Red and then punched using the Heart Punch, and That's the Ticket was used, surprisingly enough, for the tickets. We used the Valentine's ticket and the Admit One ticket. This stamp set is new and can be found in the Spring/Summer catalogue with it's matching punch - so much easier than hand cutting.

I will show you the matching card next time. I may have to make another set of these as my son has decided he should have these for his girlfriend.... x

We will be making the box, which is large enough to put a real cupcake in:

The birthday cake:

And the card (which can also be used as a tag):

I have used Island Indigo, Pool Party and Calypso Coral for my colours. The DSP has been discontinued but you can make this with any of the DSPs.

An Envelope Full of Love

Morning everyone, I'm going to show you one of the Valentine projects today. This card uses the Scallop Envelope die and is pretty easy to make:

The base card is Pool Party cardstock and the DSP is More Amore, which is one of my favourites. You can find it in the new Spring/Summer catalogue (see link and picture at the side of my blog).

We used the triple heart punch (now retired) and the small heart punch to punch hearts out of Primrose Petals, Real Red and Pool Party cardstock. If you don't want to use hearts, you can use a flower punch such as the Boho Blossoms punch instead.

The sentiment is from the Sale-A-Bration set Vintage Verses, which can be yours free, with a £45 order (see below). I happened to have some pink heart crystals (not SU) which completed the look.

I will also share this small gift:which we made:

This is a small cellephone bag (available from Stampin Up, page 163), filled with pink smarties. I used the You are Loved stamp set and Decorative Label punch, to create the topper.

Don't forget to look at the new Spring/Summer catalogue, and I'll be back with more soon. x
